About the School's Namesake
Frank J. DiLoreto
(1922-1964)
Senator DiLoreto devoted himself to public service. During his two terms as a state senator he distinguished himself as an able legislator and
be showed particular leadership in the field of education.
He was a former chairman of the New Britain Board of Education and a former member of the local Recreation Commission, and held other municipal posts. He was a judge of the Police Court and, at his death, was counsel to the Mattabassett Sewer District.
He was a long-time friend of Central Connecticut State University in his native city and much of the college's progress was due to his support. He also was interested in extending the facilities of all the state's colleges and technical schools and was in the forefront of state education aid to towns.
